Dr. Steven Koonin is a Professor of Information, Operations and Management Sciences at New York University's Stern School of Business. He is also Director of NYU's new Center for Urban Science and Progress (CUSP).
Professor Koonin served as the Undersecretary for Science at the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to joining the Obama Administration, he was BP's Chief Scientist after almost three decades as Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology, serving as the Institute's Vice President and Provost for the last nine years. He also held a position at the Science and Technology Policy Institute of the Institute for Defense Analyses.
Professor Koonin received his B.S. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology and his Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from MIT.

Michael Greenstone is the Milton Friedman Distinguished Service Professor in Economics as well as the Director of the Becker Friedman Institute and the interdisciplinary Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
He previously served as the Chief Economist for President Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, where he co-led the development of the United States Government's social cost of carbon. Formerly, Greenstone was the 3M Professor of Environmental Economics at MIT and directed The Hamilton Project. As a co-director of the Climate Impact Lab, he is producing empirically grounded estimates of the local and global impacts of climate change. He also created the Air Quality Life Index™.
Greenstone received a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University and a B.A. in Economics with High Honors from Swarthmore College.
