Dr. Scott Tinker Discusses Energy Dilemmas and Opportunities in ONS Foundation’s Biennial Event

The ONS Foundation invited Dr. Scott Tinker to discuss energy dilemmas and opportunities during their biennial event for global energy discussion.

The media often presents “dilemmas” when talking about energy: energy or the environment, clean or dirty energy, climate or the economy… In reality, many of these dilemmas are false dichotomies. Energy requires collaboration between governments, NGOs, academe, and industry. Switch Energy Alliance believes that these so-called dilemmas are really opportunities for us all to come together and make a difference.

Dr. Tinker ended his talk with a quote from Dr. Hans Rosling, author of Factfullness: “Data must be used to tell the truth, not to call to action, no matter how noble the intentions.”

The ONS Foundation is a world-leading, non-profit organization facilitating discussions and collaboration on energy, technology and innovation. The biennial ONS event gathers more than 65,000 visitors from around 100 countries in Stavanger, Norway. This year the entire conference from August 31st to September 2nd was virtual.
