Like Switch Energy Alliance, the KBH Energy Center believes in the importance of different sectors working together to solve energy problems. For example, Dr. Tinker cited a Chemical & Engineering News article that highlighted “a multimillion-metric-ton heap of lithium ion batteries that could end up in the trash… but because of technical, economic and other factors, less than 5% are recycled today.”
To solve energy problems like recycling lithium ion batteries, the public and private sector will have to collaborate to find solutions that exist at the intersection of the Three E’s: energy, environment, and the economy.
The KBH Energy Center is a joint endeavor of the University of Texas School of Law and the McCombs School of Business. The center leverages the resources and talents of the two schools and collaborates with the many other schools, centers and areas of study that comprise the unparalleled collection of energy-related talent, expertise and knowledge at the University of Texas.
