SEA Welcomes Anne Ekern as President

The Board of Directors of the Switch Energy Alliance (SEA) is pleased to announce that Anne Ekern will begin a new role as President of SEA on June 3rd, 2024. Anne brings tremendous experience across government, finance, academia, and energy. Most recently, Anne has served as Marketing Director for Rystad Energy in Oslo, Norway.

SEA Founder and Chairman Dr. Scott Tinker said, “Anne has served on SEA’s Board of Directors for 5 years and is very familiar with our mission and staff. We are thrilled she is ready to engage full time as President.”

In this role, Anne will work closely with SEA Executive Director Korina Smith. “Korina has done a terrific job of building SEA into a well-functioning organization, and her strengths complement Anne’s very well.” Tinker said. “They make an outstanding team!”

“I’m really looking forward to working with Anne more closely in her role as President. Switch has grown so much over the past couple of years that we need additional leadership to help drive our strategic direction and keep up with our growing pool of partnerships and development needs,” says Executive Director, Korina Smith.

“Energy is humankind’s greatest challenge, and opportunity, and the world’s 200+ nations have vastly different starting points. Too many of us in high-income countries simply take energy for granted. SEA will continue to shine a light on those in energy poverty and press for collaborative solutions.

I am thrilled to bring my global experience and network in government, academia, finance, energy, and service companies to SEA.”

Switch Energy Alliance is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring an energy-educated future.  SEA currently has two television series on PBS (Energy Switch and Switch On the Series), two feature length documentary films (Switch and Switch On), a short film made for science museums (Energy Makes our World), a K-12 education platform for teachers (Switch Classroom), and a global university competition that helps find solutions to energy poverty (Switch Competition).] In the near future, SEA plans to release a dynamic professional education product that can be utilized across multiple industries.
