The Massachusetts Institute of Technology Energy Initiative (MITEI) invited Dr. Scott Tinker to talk about energy and filmmaking with Dr. Robert Stoner on their podcast.
Like Switch Energy Alliance, MITEI is committed to energy education. Dr. Stoner praised both Switch and Switch On for being “non-judgmental” documentaries in contrast to other energy films that tend to be biased and partisan.
“It’s this balance, Rob, between the economy and the environment and energy. That waltz of the three ‘E’s. I’ve talked about that for decades now,” said Dr. Tinker. “That overlap space I call the radical middle. It’s radically lonely sometimes, but it’s where the big challenges are.”
MITEI’s mission is to develop low- and no-carbon solutions to efficiently, affordably, and sustainably meet global energy needs while minimizing environmental impacts, dramatically reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigating climate change.
Dr. Stoner is the deputy director for science and technology at MITEI, founding director of the MIT Tata Center for Technology and Design, and faculty co-director of the MITEI Low-Carbon Energy Center for Electric Power Systems. Dr. Stoner served as one of the judges of the International Switch Energy Case Competition finals.
Switch Energy Alliance hosted the third annual Teacher Advisory Council (TAC) Summer Institute to collaborate on Switch Classroom projects.
