SEA Chairman Dr. Scott Tinker Speaks at GSA Conference

SEA Chairman Dr. Scott Tinker recently kicked off the keynote speeches at the Geological Society of America Connects National Conference in Denver, Colorado. The talk was titled “Sustainable Energy for the 21st Century”. In the talk Dr.Tinker discussed the dual challenge of providing sustainable energy for all while simultaneously protecting the environment. He stated this dual challenge is diffifcult but it is also solvable.

Conference attendees, prominent geoscientists and past and present leaders of the American Geosciences Institute gathered on the 75th anniversary of AGI to discuss the future of geology and how the institute will respond to a changing world and new challenges.   

Other keynote addresses were given by Dr. Elizabeth Eide from The National Academies, Dr David Applegate Director of the USGS and U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper.
